Happy Sunday lovelies!  Hope you are all enjoying your weekends.  Mine has been a lot more relaxed and restful compared to last weekend when I went to a fantastic wedding in Hampshire with one of my closest friends.  Here’s our wedding selfie from the day:

We were actually super hungry by this point because the beautiful bride was 2 hours late for the ceremony – she obviously wanted to keep the groom waiting.  The wedding breakfast was buffet style and full of lots of Caribbean and African food, which meant lots of spice and flavours. 

Rather than having a traditional dessert there was a fun gelato stand that included some delicious and strange flavours.  For my first portion, yes I went up for seconds, I had a scoop of pistachio and cherry gelato topped with sprinkles, so yummy!  I adore gelato and would happily visit Italy again if it was only for a few heaping mouthfuls of the stuff!

My friend stayed for the weekend so we had a nice long catch up.  We treated ourselves to breakfast before she headed home and went to one of my favourite deli’s.  We both had an English breakfast bap and I had a chai latte with mine.  This kept me going for hours as it was full with bacon, sausage, a fried egg, mushrooms and tomatoes, perfect Sunday breakfast treat! 

During the week I’ve been getting back to my regular eats and I’ve been on that fig train again:

This was autumn in a bowl for me with lots of pretty sliced figs, pecans and maple syrup on top of organic natural yoghurt.  I’ve made a  few more bowls like this over the week and I can seriously say that I’m addicted. 

Speedy quick dinners have been a favourite this week and I made a really easy stir fry that contained only a few ingredients.  I mixed soba noodles, stir fry vegetables, soy sauce, sesame oil with an egg stirred in to make this really simple healthy meal. It reminded me of a pad Thai and I think I will definitely be putting this on the speedy, healthy meal list for when the baby arrives. 

Fruity salads have been a staple for me recently, I just love them.  On this one I added grapes, apple, cheddar cheese and almonds to mixed leaves.  I’m pretty sure that some balsamic would have been great on this, but I left it plain and it was still yummy. 

Foodie deliveries are the best and I was kindly sent a package of drinks from Rebel Kitchen.  I’ve only tried this Chai Mylk flavour so far and that was delicious.  A full review will be on the blog soon. 

Tesco has been great recently for healthy living food stuff.  Last week I picked up a couple of Kind bars and yesterday they had boxes of Kashi Go Lean reduced from ยฃ4.50 to 68p…bargain!  I had this particular Kind bar with a banana and coconut green smoothie for breakfast. 

In terms of exercise, with my due date looming (more on that in a moment) I finally decided to take everyone’s advice and stripped it back a little.  I’ve just been going on 30-minute walks for some gentle exercise around the village as I do like to keep moving and I haven’t been to the gym at all this week.  Unfortunately, I didn’t do any yoga so I’m hoping to do some prenatal yoga later today and go on another walk. Also, I’ve been getting in my rest before the baby arrives and taking naps in the afternoon – definitely making the most of it whilst I still can. 

Talking about due dates, my cupcake in the oven is officially over baked!  Yep, we were due to go into labour yesterday, but there wasn’t even a twinge or a sign that we were going to be delivering.  It’s nice to know that my little man loves the nest that I’ve created for him over the past 9 months, but I’m ready to meet him now.  Alfie and I went out for a curry last night to see if all of those spices would help him along, but still no-show, bless him! I’m sure that he will make his grand entrance in his own time.  Meanwhile, now in the 40th week I’m going to enjoy the remainder of my pregnancy and try to relax as much as possible, which as I mentioned in my  is so hard for me to do, my fingers are itching already.
