Peanut butter and chocolate is just one of those strange sounding combinations that really works.  I’m a huge fan, and if you’re not aware of the amazing peanut butter cup chocolate treats from the U.S, where have you been?  I’ve taken this popular chocolate flavour and made it something that can be served at breakfast time, which contains a secret ingredient.

Yes, chocolate for .  What’s not to love?

Warming Peanut Butter Oats

Although it’s supposed to be summer here in the UK, some mornings have really had an autumnal vibe about them.  Mornings like these call for a breakfast that’s going to warm your tummy.  Porridge is perfect for this, it’s hearty and wholesome and always feels like a hug in a bowl when I make it.

Peanut Butter And A Secret Ingredient

This porridge which can be cooked on the hob or the stove is seriously rich because of that secret ingredient – quark!  I mixed through a couple of tablespoons of natural quark, while the porridge made with , was almost finished cooking on the hob, making it thick and creamy. Quark is a great addition to sneak into your porridge because it’s naturally low in fat and high in protein making your porridge more filling and sustainable.

We love because they have a natural creaminess to them and nutty texture because of their unique milling process.  I had the opportunity to be invited to one of their grower’s farms  in the Cotswolds and I learned so much about their production process.

If you’re making this in the microwave, just stir all the ingredients together in a microwaveable bowl and heat for a few minutes.

Peanut Butter And Other Topping Ideas

What I love about porridge the most are the toppings.  I go topping crazy!  Fresh berries, nuts, nut butters, chocolate chips, seeds – there are no limits.  Of course, if you are really craving chocolate you can add some more chocolate chips to make it really intense in chocolate.  That’s the beauty of porridge, you can tailor it to your own tastes because it’s extremely versatile.

If you’re looking for more breakfast recipe inspiration, why not try some of these:
